The Tenth Voice (LGBTQIA)
The Tenth Voice is the Kansas City area's only weekly broadcast created by and for LGBTQIA+ people in our community in the Greater Kansas City area and around the world online. Listeners can tune in each Saturday at 1:00 PM. Each week our team of hosts and producers present interviews, information, music, news and features especially important to Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, Transgender & Nonbinary people, Queer, Intersex, Asexual & Aromantic people and Allied collective communities. Since 1989, The Tenth Voice radio show has documented and informed the LGBTQIA+ Kansas City Community.
It is the 3rd Saturday of the month and time again for Show People with Michael Grayman-Parkhurst. This week Michael welcomes Vanessa Severo to the show.
Vanessa Severo studied at Missouri State University, as well as The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. She was a 2017 recipient of the TCG 11th Round of the Fox Foundation resident Actor Fellowships. She has performed and/or directed for the past 12 seasons at The Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Coterie Theatre, Unicorn Theatre and Spinning Tree Theatre to name a few. Vanessa is certified in Suzuki Method, and Viewpoints under the instruction of Ellen Lauren of the SITI company based in New York City. She is the playwright and actor of Frida…A Self Portrait’ a one-woman production about the tumultuous and brilliant life of Frida Kahlo. Vanessa is passionate about utilizing the element of Suzuki method in her work to challenge the boundaries of storytelling, and explore the depths of movement, composition, and the power of stillness.
