Join us this Saturday on The Tenth Voice as we snuggle up under the rainbow kotatsu & revisit the first episode of a series on anime (animation) and manga (illustrated novels) dealing with LGBTQIA+ themes. Today we will introduce the concepts of anime and manga and their growing popularity among Generation Alpha, Generation Z and Millennials in the LGBTQIA+ community. The topics of today’s installment will be yuri (girl-love/lesbian) anime and an intersectionality with otherness and alienation from society, cast within a review of three very different anime: Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Mysteria Friends, and Ms. Vampire Who Lives In My Neighborhood. The discussion will be hosted by Fiona and Una : Fiona has has presented in two panel sessions on Yuri and LGBTQIA+ themes in Anime, as well as assisting with engineering for anime music video (AMV) sessions at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2021, one of the largest anime conventions in the United States. Una has also studied the subject and co-presented on the two panels on Yuri and LGBTQIA+ themes in Anime at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2021 with Fiona.
