“Bird” Ellington Fleming, founder and Artistic Director of the Traditional Music Society, and musicians Gerald Trimble, and Nick Amir Baker discuss the roots of Middle Eastern Music.
The Traditional Music Society presents its annual fall concert, “Music from the Middle East – A History”. A cultural experience – exploring the rich and diverse origins of Middle Eastern music and belly dance, tracing their roots from Egypt, North Africa, and ancient Mesopotamia, Saturday, October 5th, 2pm-4pm, Unity Temple Plaza 704 West 47th Street, Kansas City MO.
Performances will include Bayati: Arabic music ensemble, directed by multi-instrumentalist Nick Amir Baker, and renowned belly dancer, Kimberly Guanciale.
FEATURED ARTIST, Gerald Trimble known for his unique fusion of Celtic, jazz, baroque, middle eastern and Indian music. Gerald and his group, Jambaroque, will perform selections from Turkish, Armenian, Kurdish and Persian traditions.
There will be a special presentation by the Traditional Music Society’s Soundz of Africa ensemble with Esoke dance.
