Trans Talk: Momentum Toward Open Transgender Military Service and Falling Barriers to Medically Necessary Care

Sandra Meade, The host of “Trans Talk,” will first interview Brynn Tannehill, the Director of Advocacy for SPARTA, an LGBT military organization. Sandra and Brynn will discuss the growing momentum for open transgender military service, and what three major reports released in the past six months have to say about it. Next up, Sandra will interview Mara Keisling, Founding Executive Director of the National Center for Transgender Equality in Washington D.C. Sandra and Mara will discuss barriers to necessary medical care for the transgender community, and developments this year that show progress toward eliminating some of those barriers. Included in the conversation will be Chelsea Manning’s lawsuit against the Defense Department this week, as Chelsea seeks a court order compelling the DOD to provide her adequate transition related care.

Of course, the episode starts off with LGBT News researched by Philip Hooser, and the show closes out with the community calendar update.
