WINGS
WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
This program is an update of an archival recording of a 1994 Indigenous Women’s Network conference on sustainable communities, held at White Earth. The recording is of two-spirited women talking about prejudice and acceptance, leadership, AIDS, and tradition. Conference co-organizer, Marsha Gomez, also discusses the growing two-spirit acceptance in an interview. Featured speakers are: Tahnahga Yako Myers, Mohawk/Anishinabe, indigenous counselor and healer; Bonnie Blackwolf, Blackfeet nation, human rights activist, person With AIDS; and, Marsha Gomez, a Founding Mother of the Indigenous Women’s Network and sculptor.
