Unlearning Patriarchy (War and the Dream of an Artificial World)

In this interview with Professor Claudia von Werlhof (a German sociologist, political scientist and Professor Emerita of Women’s Studies at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Innsbruck) capitalism is defined as the latest phase of a centuries-old patriarchal dream to replace dependency on women and nature with an artificial world. This fantasy underlies both gnostic religion and the thirst for war. The only solution, Professor Claudia says, is that “Men have to realize that life is here, they are here, they belong to life.” Professor von Werlhof’s books include “The Failure of Modern Civilization” and “The Struggle for a Deep Alternative: On Critical Theory of Patriarchy as a New Paradigm”. She has also written harsh criticisms of geo-engineering.
