During the second half, host Terri Wilke will speak to a representative with the outstanding Heartland Center for Jobs and Freedom.  They create opportunities for workers to learn and exercise their rights, realize their collective power, and develop the leadership skills necessary to advocate for a racially and economically just society. They are the only organization in the region that actively empowers low-wage workers with the tools they need to fight back when their rights are violated.

Their work on protecting tenants from eviction is a hot button issue now as protections offered during the Covid Pandemic are set to expire.  We’ll look at how to continue to provide protection for tenants in order to keep people in their homes.
