At 10:30 Nick Carswell shares details about Changing Shades – Stories of Migration, Confusion & Belonging told in Image & Song from Nick Carswell in a solo performance of 10 songs, accompanied by lighting, projection and stage design, creating a unique visual canvas to the music, Friday, May 10, at 7:00 PM, at The Irish Center of KC, 19 West Linwood Blvd. AND Saturday, May 11, at 7:00 at Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St., Lawrence, KS. Each night features guest performances by Amado Espinoza (in KC) and María Elena Cuevas (in Lawrence). The project was supported by an ArtsKC Inspiration Grant. At 11:00 Mark talks with The Wires Alternative String Duo – Laurel Morgan Parks on violin, and Sascha Groschang on cello. The Wires compose and perform original music inspired by a myriad of genres and eclectic sounds, and blend wide-ranging styles, from tango to gypsy, jazz to rock, infused with the precision of classical form. At 11:30 Molly McLaughlin and Turlach Boylan play live in our 90.1 FM Studios. Together they will share music that they have been working together for the past six months. Molly McLaughlin and Turlach Boylan will be in concert on Saturday, May 18, at 4:00 pm at Diastole Scholars’ Center, 2501 Holmes, Kansas City Missouri. This is the culmination of their work together though the MO Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program, a grant they received last year. Suggested donation is $10 half of all proceeds will benefit Harmony Project KC.
