At 10:15, company members of Spinning Tree Theatre join us to talk about the KC premiere of “Black Pearl Sings,” on stage through March 22, at Just Off Broadway Theatre, 3051 Penn Valley Drive, KCMO. Written by Frank Higgins, directed by Walter Coppage, this acclaimed play features Nedra Dixon as Pearl, an African-American woman with a powerful voice in a Texas prison, and Vanessa Severo as Susannah, an ambitious song collector for the Library of Congress. At 10:30 Mark talks with members of the bands: The Waspmen and The Cave Girls who will share the stage for The Waspmen’s CD release show at recordBar, 1020 Westport Rd, March 14, at 7:00 pm. We’ll hear tracks from The Waspmen’s new recording.
