WHAT DO WE WANT? TO HAVE HEALTH CARE AT A COST WE CAN AFFORD

Jaws of Justice Radio investigates how we can achieve justice from a system of laws deeply rooted in economic, social and political inequality.  We want to dispel misconceptions created by the news and entertainment industry, politicians and our educational system. We hope you will listen.

Tune in this Monday as Host Keith Brown El speaks with his guest, Ilea Butler, about disparities in health care and access to social services, especially across state lines.

Large disparities in health care access between white people and members of most other racial and ethnic groups are apparent across states. Hispanic people have the highest uninsured rates and cost-related problems in getting care. Lack of comprehensive insurance coverage is a key contributor to disparities in access.

Keith and Ilea will provide an overview, then they drill down on various major health conditions – cancer, maternity, mental health.

Resolving these disparities requires political will. Whether its expanding Medicaid, legalizing medical marijuana, or allowing doctors to practice across state lines, these are issues that can be addressed with the right policies in place. It’s time to hold our lawmakers accountable and demand that they prioritize health equity and social justice.

On Jaws of Justice, we examine how to find justice in our society.  Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
