What is Israel/Palestine: Recognizing the One State Reality

Four distinguished panelists expand on arguments in the book The One State Reality: What is Israel/Palestine. The complete panel discussion hosted by The Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institute is available on youtube.

Shibley Telhani and Michael Barnett were instrumental in conceiving the book – a collection of essays exploring why the path to peace and justice must begin with a description of the current situation. Telhani is one of the leading experts on U.S. policy in the Middle East and now serves as senior fellow of the Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings InstitutionBarnett is Professor of International Affairs and Political Science at George Washington University.  Dahlia Scheindling, a public opinion expert based in Tel Aviv, was a contributor to The One State Reality.  Marwan Muasher, who brought his experience as a distinguished career diplomat, is now Vice President of studies at the Carnegie Endowment for Peace.

All of the panelists have published extensively on questions about Israel and the Middle East.  Together they argue that finding peace must begin with a sharply defined acknowledgement of today’s reality: a one-state in all of Israel/Palestine
