WHEN FOOD IS MORE THAN FOOD

Young resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tsameret Ruedenberg, explores the meaning and exisence of good food in her community.

First Tsameret visits Zingerman’s Delicatessen, a flagship fine food store and destination of Anne Arbor’s cultural life. Tessie Ives Wilson, their Events Coordinator, describes their traditional Jewish food as well as food from other folk traditions around the world and local recipes, providing a rich experience.

Noting, however, that good food is essential for all of the community, not just for those who can afford to consume Zingerman’s products, Tsameret visits a program started by the deli’s employees, The Food Gatherers. Lauren Grossman communications coordinator, discusses how they provide good food to those needing it and how this builds a stronger community in their county.
