WINGS
WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
The Casa Internazionale delle Donne – the International Women’s House – is a former convent in Rome that was occupied by feminists in 1987 and approved by the city in 1992. The current city council is trying and failing to oust them. Women talk about its history, its programs, and ideas related to women’s work including immigrant status, poetry, and women’s contributions to the economy.
Speakers: Laura DeMicheli, a representative of the organization; Elvira Federici, Chair of the Societ delle Letterate headquartered in the Casa Internazionale Delle Donne, bringing together writers, journalists, researchers, poets, educators and more; Tiziana Bartolini discusses news bias; Flaminia, a publicist, on working from home; Carlotta Cosutta, on economic inequalities highlighted by the pandemic; Angela Teque [Spencer], immigrant homecare worker from Cape Verde; Simona Bonsignori, curator of Manifesto Libri, on women’s unwaged work; #iorestoacasaMA – a group that wrote closing poem.
