At 11:30 we talk with Sondra Freeman of Midwest Music Foundation about Apocalypse Meow 16, Saturday, November 4, at 7:00 PM at recordBar, 1520 Grand Blvd., KCMO, with The Phantastics, Nathan Corsi & My Atomic Daydream, The Philistines, True Lions, and Poet Jen Harris. This is MMF’s annual benefit to provide health care grants to music industry professionals. Apocalypse Meow started in 2008, when musician Abigail Henderson faced daunting financial hurdles after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Friends organized the first Apocalypse Meow to cover her medical expenses. To pay this forward to her local community, Abigail co-founded MMF. After she passed away in 2013, MMF established Abby’s Fund for Musicians’ Health Care, which has given out over $475,000 in health care grants to musicians in need. MMF has provided needed preventative care services through their health clinic events & partnerships. The Rock Docs will be on site from 6 to 10 pm with free flu shots, screenings, health care & insurance info. This event also features an online auction from local vendors & artists that will go Live on November 3, at: 32auctions.com. More info at www.midwestmusicfoundation.org
