At 11:00 Mark talks with Philip Dickey a musician and producer who traveled the world in the indie pop band Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin for over a decade before settling in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife Grace and his son Davey in 2017. He started the synth pop group Dragon Inn 3 in 2012 with Grace and his sister Sharon. The group released their sophomore album “Trade Secrets” on American Laundromat Records on April 28, 2023. Philip grew up in Springfield, Missouri and has been obsessed with music since he was a kid. He studied journalism at Drury University in Springfield, but has been working in the music industry ever since graduating from college. Philip’s main job is writing background music for commercials. He played bass in the band Miss Boating from 2018 to early 2023 and he currently volunteers as a manager for The Salvation Choir – a Congolese rumba choir based in the historic northeast neighborhood of Kansas City. Phil Dickey & Grace Bentley of Dragon Inn 3 play the Songbird Sessions presented by Manor Records at Blip Roasters, 1301 Woodswether Road, KC WEST BOTTOMS, on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 8:00 PM. At 11:30 we talk with Ethan Eckert about his new 17-track full length album, 21, PUNISHMENT and DISARRAY. Ethan Eckert is a musician, writer, painter, and filmmaker from Harrisonville, Missouri. He started his music career age 12 playing drums with his father’s band. At 14 he started writing his own songs for his first punk band, Acadia, and has since began a solo career releasing two albums (Duets with You and Non), three EPs (Punishment Part One, Two, and Three), and fifteen singles. He has toured the country as a solo artist and as drummer for the now dissolved punk band Salty. Ethan is busy releasing his next single “Disarray” and will continue releasing singles just as he did in 2021, when Ethan released 12 singles, one each month, with all proceeds donated to area non-for-profit organisations.
