At 11:30 Lawrence based singer/songwriter Cory Phillips joins us to share music from his recent album, SEX THIRSTY LOVE HUNGER, the second studio album from Cory Phillips & The Band Of Light, released May 21, 2021. It’s been over 10 years since Phillips released his self-titled 2009 debut album. In the midst of the pandemic, new freedoms and limitations developed for the musician with a secret life pursuing his PhD in climatology at the University of Kansas. Gigs cancelled, tours off, Phillips converted part of his house into a recording studio and brought in his ‘Band of Light’: guitarist Michael Hamm (Play Dead, the Band That Saved the World), keyboardist Nate Holt (Asterales, Approach), bassist Mario Vlasic, and long-time colleague and drummer Chel Rich (Half Tiger Half Bear, Red On Yellow, Stone Cutters Union), along with engineer Robert Rebeck (Tech N9ne) to complete the 14-song release. Cory Phillips & The Band Of Light play Nighthawk, 1228 Baltimore, KCMO West Bottoms on Saturday, September 3, at 9:00 PM. More info at: www.coryphillipsmusic.com
