The MidCoast Sound w/ Lone Stranger + Liz Chidester & Nilko Andreas + Marion Merritt + Nico Gray

WMM celebrates The MidCoast Sound spinning some of our favorite recent MidCoastal Releases. We’ll play tracks from: Julia Haile, Eddie Moore, Plains, Flare Tha Rebel, Katy Guillen & The Drive, Kevin Morby, The Black Creatures, Arquesta Del SolSoul, Jerame Gray, Olivia Fox, Lone Stranger, and Liz Chidester.

At 11:00 The Lone Stranger plays LIVE in our 90.1 FM Studios. The Lone Stranger is the new musical project of Zachary S. Phillips known for his longtime work in the bands, Gadjits and Architects. For Lone Stranger Zach played 99% of all the music, and with the exception of one “cover” song he wrote, arranged, engineered, produced and performed every note of every song. This record contains Ska, Reggae and a bit of Hip Hop. Zachary is in the process of finishing the mixing, mastering, and manufacturing of a limited run of his first solo effort with the help of Paul Malinowski at Massive Sound recording studio. Mark will talk with The Lone Stranger, who will play three songs live during the broadcast.

At 11:30 Mark talks with NYC based singer, songwriter and actress, Liz Chidester and classical guitarist and actor Nilko Andreas. Liz Chidester released her debut record, PEOPLE PUMPING PEDALS in 2014, and the EP, OTTER HILL in 2015. She was awarded as NPR’s Newsong Songwriting Competition 2014 Mid-west Finalist, and Chicago Music Awards Best Female Vocalist 2015. With friends she created the band Liz & The Lovelies and released the EP, PROGRESS INTO SIMPLICITY in 2017. It was nominated for Best Roots EP in the 2018 Independent Music Awards in NYC. Their single “My Way/Your Way” was a finalist in the Folk/Americana category in the Great American Song Competition 2018. During the pandemic, Liz continued to perform solo releasing her EP, OTHERSIDE OF THE DARKNESS TIMELINE in late 2021, when she began collaborating with classical guitarist Nilko Andreas. Liz Chidester plays Greenwood Social Hall, 1750 Belleview Ave, KCMO Westside on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Doors at 5:30 PM, show at 6:00 PM with classical guitarist Nilko Andreas.
