The Team
I have long believed in community radio. It is the purest form of radio-grassroots and locally based. Community radio is all about people with a deep knowledge and passion for music being given the freedom to express themselves on the air. I program for people with wide, eclectic tastes who like to explore the musical realms.
Diana Linn, a member of the Americana Music Association and Folk Alliance International, hopes to expand the listening base for KKFI by highlighting this treasure trove of music that she feels is severely under-represented by corporate radio.
Roger Wilder, The Jazz Geek, is the host of KKFI’s Jazz Afternoon on Fridays. He plays new releases, classic jazz, local jazz, and birthdays of jazz artists. Mr. Wilder is an adjunct jazz professor at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Maria Vasquez Boyd is a writer, painter, illustrator, radio producer and a founding member of the Latino Writers Collective.
Mark has volunteered at KKFI 90.1 FM since 2001. He served as Secretary on KKFI's Board of Directors from 2004 to 2009. Mark also served as Host, Writer and Producer of The Tenth Voice from 2001 through 2009.

MidCoast LIVE! presents Christena Graves
Coming up on MidCoast LIVE! on November 29, 2024, Noon to 1:00pm, on KKFI 90.1 FM we present Christena Graves! Acclaimed singer songwriter, Christena Graves who grew up in western Michigan, and after leaving to attend college in Missouri, she met her husband Brandon and joined the band Waterdeep as the keyboard player. After touring for several years, she stepped away from the band to raise their children. Once the kids were old enough, Christena and Brandon decided to form a new project. In mid 2020 Greg Lafollette, a long time musical friend, moved back to Kansas City from Nashville where he had built a successful career as an artist and producer. Greg offered his help to record a collections of songs that have become her album, Finding My Footing, her first full length solo album since 1996 and her first as a band leader. Since the album Christena has released several singles. Christena Graves released the single “One Good Thing” on February 24, 2024 one of WMM's 50 Favorite Singles of 2024. Coming up on MidCoast LIVE! on October 18, 2024, Noon to 1:00pm, on KKFI 90.1 FM we present Bobcat Attack! Bobcat Attack, is the moniker of electronic music artist Nathan Reusch. Nathan is co-founder of The Record Machine an area music label celebrating 21 years! Nathan grew up in hanging out at Recycled Sounds with Anne Winter & Billy Smith and influenced by emo/punk, first started making electronic music as Bobcat Attack in the early 2000s, opening for acts like Taking Back Sunday, MEwihout You, Coheed and Cambria, Joy Electric, Atom & His Package, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone and YACHT. In 2003, Nathan started, The Record Machine, and in 2011, he co-founded KC's Middle of the Map Fest. Nathan's focus on making music came to a halt. Under Nathan's leadership The Record Machine has been a home for: Static Phantoms, Monta at Odds, Various Blonde, Cowboy Indian Bear, LaGuerre, The Philistines, and Black Light Animals and many more. On September 20, 2024, Bobcat Attack released his first single, "Pallas" a pulsing track with a bouncing melody over ambient architecture.

MidCoast LIVE! presents Zee Underscore on Friday, July 5, 2024, 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM, LIVE on 90.1 FM KKFI. Host Mark Manning welcomes Zee Underscore who will play a live 60-minute concert in our 90.1 FM studios. Zee Underscore just recently released her acclaimed debut EP, THE ZEE UNDERSCORE EXPERIENCE. Zee Underscore studied at The School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) in Cincinnati, Ohio, where her confidence and talent flourished, sparking a deep passion for music creation and supporting artists of diverse backgrounds. Zee completed a five-year electrical engineering program at The University of Cincinnati, and her work in electrical engineering led her to Kansas City. Zee is co-founder of ZNTL Enterprises. Through this work shoe emcees and produces outdoor stage shows at First Friday's in the West Crossroads.
