Often overshadowed by the more commercial jazz and blues music of the times, gospel also has deep roots in Kansas City history. Patrick Alonzo Conway is a percussionist, wind player and composer who has studied with noted master drummers from around the world. He currently is director of the community Balinese gamelan orchestra Gamel Toronto. We also welcome contributor Kristy Blomquist who will be interviewing Carrahan Genta Kasturi. We will hear some of his latest work, “Samvartaka” , which was written for and premiered at the Folly Theater for Charlotte Street’s 20th Anniversary. Carrah Quigley is an international speaker and meditation and yoga instructor in the Kansas City area. She will be talking with us about her time spent in Dublin and Belfast as she worked on her Master’s in Ecumenics at Trinity College in Dublin.
