Tell Somebody

“Tell Somebody” is a locally-produced weekly public affairs program on the air on KKFI since September 2005.  Tell Somebody strives to provide in-depth coverage of important international, national and local issues and viewpoints often ignored or distorted in the corporate media.

A 1999 USAID publication gave a rather paternalistic description of the role of media in a democracy – for other countries.  They wrote that access to information is essential to the health of democracy for at least two reasons. First, it ensures that citizens make responsible, informed choices rather than acting out of ignorance or misinformation. Second, information serves a “checking function” by ensuring that elected representatives uphold their oaths of office and carry out the wishes of those who elected them.

In September, 2005, Tom Klammer started production of Tell Somebody with an eye to helping bring those ideas home to Kansas City.
