The Tenth Voice is the Kansas City area's only weekly broadcast created by and for LGBTQIA+ people in our community in the Greater Kansas City area and around the world online. Listeners can tune in each Saturday at 1:00 PM. Each week our team of hosts and producers present interviews, information, music, news and features especially important to Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, Transgender & Nonbinary people, Queer, Intersex, Asexual & Aromantic people and Allied collective communities. Since 1989, The Tenth Voice radio show has documented and informed the LGBTQIA+ Kansas City Community.

The Team
Fiona Nowling is one of the producers of the Tenth Voice, which airs every Saturday. She also coproduces the program Every Woman, also airing on Saturday. In August 2018 they were elected to the KKFI Board of Directors for a 3-year term. In December 2019 she was elected to be President of the Board of Directors of KKFI, and in August 2020 they were reelected to the Board, and elected as Secretary of the Board of Directors of KKFI. Outside of KKFI, she runs a support group called SOFFA, works in the IT Field in Healthcare, and enjoys anime and reading in what remains of their spare time. Pronouns are she/they.
Una Nowling lived a turbulent life where she tried to do her best, but failed despite all her efforts. Her epitaph is "Never have I been a blue calm sea / I have always been a storm."

The name of the show comes from the early Dr. Kinsey sex studies where he determined that 1 in 10 people are homosexual. That number has changed over time but just like the historic Stonewall name, we are keeping ours for the same reason.
First Saturdays’ host is Daddy Rae with Grey Matters
Second Saturdays’ hosts are Fiona & Una Nowling, for The Rainbow Kotatsu
Third Saturdays’ host is Michael Grayman-Parkhurst with Show People.
Fourth Saturdays’ (Trans Talk episode) hosts are Una & Fiona Nowling.
Fifth Saturdays’ host is Starla Carr.
The monthly Trans Talk segment of The Tenth Voice radio took home the Alliance for Community Media Foundation’s Hometown Media Awards’ ‘Best Of Underserved Voices – Community Radio’ 2021 award for their episode featuring an interview with Stephanie Byers, who made history twice last December by becoming Kansas’s first transgender person elected to the Kansas State Legislature as well as the first Indigenous trans person elected to any state legislature.

Blake Stadnik is most well known for his role as Jack Damon on NBC's "This Is Us". Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Stadnik discovered acting after he lost the majority of his eyesight due to Stargardt's Disease. After receiving his BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State University, he had a successful theatre career appearing in Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables, Newsies, and 42nd Street. As an actor with a disability, Stadnik advocates for all disabled artists.

Join us this Saturday on The Tenth Voice as we continue our series on anime (animation) and manga (illustrated novels) dealing with LGBTQIA+ themes. As always, we’re going to give you a wonderful list of resources for LGBTQIA+ anime and manga shows that are non-cringe, non-triggering to watch! So, be ready to squee your queer little heart out at all the fuzzy feelings and join us under the rainbow kotatsu today! Today, we’re going to discuss the end of arc one of Mobile Suit Gundam: the Witch from Mercury (or Gundam Witch, as it is fondly known), and talking about what yo can watch to fill that void until it comes back in April… But not to fear! There is a bumper crop of new yuri anime coming out this spring, and some have already started! So we will be reviewing those, and also warning you about a new show too - throwing ourselves on that grenade, so that you don’t have to!
The discussion will be hosted by Fiona and Una: Fiona is a nonbinary lesbian, and has presented in four panel sessions on Yuri and LGBTQIA+ themes in Anime, as well as assisting with engineering for anime music video (AMV) sessions at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2021 & 2022, and at Momocon 2022, two of the largest anime conventions in the United States. Una has also studied the subject and co-presented on the two panels on Yuri and LGBTQIA+ themes in Anime at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2021 with Fiona, and Una is herself an intersex and transgender woman.
