Diversity Statement

KKFI’s Diversity Statement is built into our Mission & Philosophy.

Mission Statement
KKFI is the Kansas City area’s independent, noncommercial community radio station. We seek to stimulate, educate and entertain our audience, to reflect the diversity of the local and world community, and to provide a channel for individuals and groups, issues and music that have been overlooked, suppressed or under-represented by other media.

Philosophy Statement
KKFI is committed to diversity in programming and discourse and seeks to create a climate of mutual respect and collaboration among volunteers and staff.

KKFI is committed to ensuring that its workforce and community advisory council reflect the diversity found in the communities it serves. KKFI believes that diversity considerations extend beyond race and gender. The spectrum of diversity also includes color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, age, disability, culture, education, military service and socio-economic status.

KKFI strives to create and foster a supportive environment in which all individuals can be successful and reach their full potential within the organization. We make if clear in our board application and active member applications.

KKFI is an equal opportunity employer and will attempt to recruit a diverse work force and explicitly forbid discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, military service and marital status.
