Amy Helm

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Amy Helm is our guest this week on Art of the Song. She is the daughter of the legendary drummer for the Band, the late Levon Helm, and she’s also a founding member of alt-country ensemble, Ollabelle. After making multiple albums and performing worldwide, Amy returned home to Woodstock, New York to record her third album What the Flood Leaves Behind. The album is her most autobiographical yet, both in content and creation, representing a gathering of ideas and experiences, friends and collaborators. It also marks a landing — a pause for the traveling musician and mother of two young boys who was seeking clarity in her calling and career. We visited with Amy at the Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York.
