INFORMATION FOR LIBERATION: GLEN FORD ON THE HISTORY OF BLACK RADIO NEWS

Pacifica Network shares excerpts from Glen Ford’s keynote speech at the Grassroots Radio Conference in 2019.

The speech gives a history of black radio news, including Ford’s experience working at WRDW, James Brown’s radio station in Augusta, Georgia. While employed there in 1970, Ford whipped up a stalwart resistance movement with the local leadership, thereby uniting the town to boycott discriminatory businesses.

Veteran Journalist Glen Ford passed away in July 2021.
