Latin Explosion
Latin Explosion is a musical journey through the vast world of 20th Century salsa, latin jazz and Cuban music with host Juan Montenegro. Latin Explosion originally aired daily on Chicago radio in the 70’s and 80’s. Different artists will be highlighted in every episode so each show will be unique.
In this episode we will hear the music of Ray Barretto before Fania – His first hit “El Watusi” from 1962, became the most successful pachanga song in the United States! Hear it and a subsequent “Watusi ’65”. Plus the last albums by the creator of Afro-Cuban Jazz, Mario Bauza!
