What is language justice? Language justice is an evolving framework based on the notion of respecting every individual’s fundamental language rights—to be able to communicate, understand, and be understood in the language in which they prefer and feel most articulate and powerful. The City Government of Kansas City, Missouri does not have a comprehensive language access program, and as a result, city residents who do not speak English do not have access to vital city services nor are they able to participate in our city’s democratic processes.
