UAW’s Southern Strategy – an Assessment and Nanni Balestrini’s We Want Everything – A Strike Novel

Despite a number of attempts by the UAW to organize foreign-owned Southern auto plants, there’s been stiff resistance from the foreign companies, politicians, community, and workers themselves.  This week on the Heartland Labor Forum we interview Stephen J. Silvia who has written the first in-depth assessment of the United Auto Workers’ organizing in the South in his book, The UAW;s Southern Gamble. Then we’ll review the classic novel about the Italian Fiat workers’ strike that led to a mass uprising. It’s Nanni Balestrini’s We Want Everything. Also Know Your Rights with Michael Amash.
