“Media and Democracy” with David Barsamian

David Barsamian spoke at All Souls Forum on Wednesday, 2019-10-30.  Barsamian produces a radio show “Alternative Radio” heard on KKFI and over 300 stations across the county.  He has authored several books with authors like Noam Chomsky.  His presentation 2019-10-30 discussed media and democracy and the attempt of authoritarian governments to stifle free speech and control media. He pointed out how media influence public opinion and how media can be manipulated by people with hidden agendas. Barsamian has traveled extensively around the world including the Middle East and was well versed to discuss issues covered by the media facing humanity like climate change, domination of political life by the arms industry, foreign policy mistakes, and current crises around the world.
