JOHN C. CARMICHAEL, PhD., Conductor-Pinnacle Winds is seeking to become the first full-time, all-civilian, professional wind band in America this century. Our goal is to bring the very best of the band’s rapidly expanding repertoire to a growing audience while providing outreach services to the band community in which we exist.
Auditions for open chairs and sub status will occur on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Peter and All Saints Episcopal Church on Red Bridge Road. There will be a signup document provided as we get closer to the date. You will be asked to play listed excerpts plus a two-minute selection from your own etudes or solo repertoire.
Since we cannot contact every qualified musician in the Kansas City area, we ask that you share this information with any person you know who could contribute to the band. The excerpts are fairly difficult. It is, however, the level of proficiency that should be expected of those performing in a professional band. You will also be expected to perform a two-minute selection of your choosing. There will be no sight-reading, although you may be asked to perform a chromatic scale.
INFORMATION FOR PERCUSSIONISTS: Since there is no percussion equipment at the church, submit your form, and the conductor will be in touch with you to set up an audition at a place of your choosing.
