Host Diana Linn will keep the blues’ vibe going on this coming Saturday’s edition of Siren Song with selections from artists like Susan Tedeschi, Carolyn Wonderland, Marcia Ball, Shemekia Copeland, Mavis Staples, Larkin Poe and many more.
Also highlighted on this week’s Siren Song will be members of the amazing community that has come to be known as the “Black Opry.” The Black Opry is home for black artists, fans and industry professionals working in Country, Americana and Folk Music…all genres made and loved by Black people since their inception. For just as long, black people have been disregarded and/or overlooked in those genres. Black Opry is changing that. “Black Opry is not just interested in amplifying the work of Black Country Artists… but also in creating networks and building a sense of community to avoid dealing with racist institutions.” Dr. Charles Hughes as excerpted in Rolling Stone Magazine.
Black Opry Artists on this week’s intended playlist are Micky Guyton, Amythyst Kiah, Lilli Lewis, Tiera Kennedy, Rissi Palmer, Crys Matthews and Joy Clark.
