Music from around the world is featured, bringing the audience into the realm of other cultures through music, hopefully expanding empathy for the other, and recognizing that other in ourselves.
We feature music today from Benin, West Africa, all recorded in the 1970’s and 1980’s and newly re-released in 2023 by the Acid Jazz label in London, England in collaboration with the Albarika Store label in Benin. We sample music from three very rare recordings by three different groups: Les Sympathics de Porto-Novo Benin, T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo and Ogassa.
