At 11:00 Mark talks with Julia Othmer & James T Lundie about their new project, The Forcefields. We’ll play The Forcefields new single “Slip Away.” Julia & James are debuting The Forcefields with a multi-media, live music experience called Transmission, featuring collaborations with musician – Simon Huntley, artist researcher – Sarah Hearn visual artist and shadow puppeteer – Mikal Shapiro, and lighting design – Ian VanDusen. Transmission is Friday, February 23, 2024 at 7:30pm in the Stern Theater at Charlotte Street Foundation, 3333 Wyoming St, KCMO. The Forcefields will be the first of a new quarterly series offered by Charlotte Street called In(Site) highlighting local, regional, & national acts at pivotal points in their practices. // Julia Othmer will be at the Folk Alliance International Conference as part of a panel discussion called Maximizing Your Revenue, Thursday, February 22, at 3:00pm in the Pershing Room, at Folk Alliance International Conference. At 11:30 Mark welcomes Flamy Grant, winner of 2023 Kerrville New Folk Competition; and the 2023 San Diego Music Award nominee for Best Pop Album for BIBLE BELT BABY, the world’s first contemporary Christian music record by a drag performer. Flamy Grant’s single “Good Day” was released September 6, 2023 and is the first song by a drag performer to reach #1 on the iTunes Christian charts. It also debuted at #20 on Billboard’s Christian digital sales chart. Flamy Grant plays several private showcases, and is an Official Showcase the 2024 Folk Alliance International Conference on Thursday, February 22, at 7:30pm in Brookside Room at The Westin Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center 1 East Pershing Road, KCMO.
