Guest Producer – Major Matt Mason USA
Mark welcomes Major Matt Mason USA into 90.1 FM – KKFI’s On Air Studios to take over the Wednesday MidDay Medley radio show as our special “Guest Producer.” Matt will spin musical tracks from: Horsegirl, Al-Qasar with Lee Ranaldo, Hello Mary, El Shirota with Alo, Skull Snaps, Orgone, Lady Wray, The Dip, Theon Cross, Toby Goodshank, Ibibio Sound Machine, Kevin Morby, Aldous Harding, Toro Y Moi, Gustaf, Momma, A Place To Bury Strangers, Lou Barlow, Nan Turner, Major Matt Mason USA, and Sonic Youth.
Major Matt Mason USA is the performing name for musician, writer, and producer Matt Roth. Originally from Shawnee, Kansas, Matt is a member of the bands Schwervon!, Broken Heart Syndrome, and Kansas State Flower. In 1994 Matt moved to New York City where he became active in the anti-folk and DIY music scene of New York’s East Village. Centering around the infamous Monday night, open mic, Antihoots at the Sidewalk Cafe, the scene was an early stomping ground for an array of artists including Beck, Regina Spektor, Kimya Dawson, The Moldy Peaches, Langhorne Slim, John S. Hall (King Missile), Jeffrey Lewis, and many more.
