Guess Who’s Coming to Kansas City

MC Richardson says the name of his show, “Guess Who’s Coming to Kansas City” came from the film. Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.” The show is a call-in program covering local, state, national and world wide listeners and has done so since 1994.

The program  targets all cultures and genders. It celebrates special holidays, events and specializes in ethnic events not limited to sports, conventions, seminars and provocative subjects others dare not to touch. It is referred to as the Anchor Public Affairs Programming on Saturday evening. When people want to reach specific markets, they want to be on “Guess Who’s Coming to Kansas City!”

Some of MC Richardson’s past guests have included Mayor Sly James, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, former Mayor Charles Wheeler and Richard Berkley, and Mayor James Jones of Philadelphia among others. He has also had many NAACP presidents and various national journalists and heads of foundations such as Barnett Helzberg of the Helzberg Foundation.

The show publicizes issues that impact the Minority Community, encouraging pursuit of positive solutions.

Bridging Minority Economic, Educational and Racial Gap

The show has aired fourteen-plus years, including the following shows:

  • “Blackness Comes to Life” a show about American Legion Post 149. Guests: Joe Maddox, Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, Local Historian, Post Commander of American Legion Post 149, and Delbert White, Historian
  • “Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center” Guest Mr. Ollie Gates, Barbecue Baron.
  • “Black Veterans Memorial Site” Guests: Alvin Sykes, President Emmit Till, Justice Campaign, as well as Emmitt Till’s cousin will call in. Sykes is from Atlanta, Georgia. President George W. Bush signed the Emmitt Till Bill into law during his administration.
