EcoRadio KC is a magazine show, including live segments, prerecorded stories, and interviews. The weekly explores our interdependence with the rest of the world, showing the connections between the ways we choose to live and the health of the whole community of life.
On our show for August 21st, host Richard Mabion will speak with Zack Pistora, Lobbyist for the Kansas Sierra Club. Kansas is poised to benefit big-time from the billions of dollars Congress allocated for upgrading American infrastructure with the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment Act. But is there any movement in Kansas to apply for those dollars? The Kansas Legislature has finished their sessions for 2023 and will not meet again until January 8, 2024. Zack will provide listeners with an overview of what was passed, what died and what is pending with respect to environmental issues.
This fall is an election and listeners can learn facts to help them decide how their vote can be most effective to improve the climate environment. Where do Kansas Legislators stand on utility company proposed rate hikes?
As usual, we have too much to talk about in a short hour. We want to educate community leaders and advocate for maximizing investment in statewide programs to protect water, save energy and make the state more equitable, eco-friendly, and resilient. Homeowners could benefit from fewer lead pipes, better access to high-speed internet, modern appliances and energy-efficient improvements, rooftop solar, and electric vehicles.
