KEVIN POSE, RETIRED CHIEF JACKSON COUNTY INVESTIGATOR, SHARES WHAT HE KNOWS

Host David Bell talks with Kevin Pose, former Jackson County Missouri Chief Investigator, now retired, whose career in law enforcement began as Dispatcher before he was 21.  He retired in December 2021 after helping the office do its job under seven prosecutors.

Kevin opens his story of the investigations he conducted with a review of a cold case that he helped broadcast on America’s Most Wanted, the Bocklage case.  Eyewitnesses saw a man murder a woman and Richard Bocklage was the suspect.  He was never found.

We will play our calendar at the middle of the hour, then David and Kevin return to discuss more cases. They acknowledge the stress of the job of law enforcement, where workers are frequently exposed to the worst human behaviors imaginable.  What you will learn is that Kevin Pose has a devotion to his craft which overrides the gruesome details.

The public’s fascination with true crime is not a recent phenomenon and is prevalent in entertainment industries where the facts can be sensationalized. The mystery and the psychology behind true crime can be captivating. It piques our sense of curiosity.  Kevin Pose shows us that to know things is to have power over things in a way. True crime stories are packed full of suspense, mystery and tension, which trigger adrenaline – a positive hormonal response, which makes them enjoyable. And the subsequent comfort we feel, as a result of our own immediate safety, is physiologically relaxing.

We hope you will listen.  On Jaws of Justice, we examine how to find justice in our society.  Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
