Melvin Merritt Speaks with Johnny Waller, Jr. of More²

Host Melvin Merritt with speak with Johnny Waller, Jr. of More².  More² was created in 2004 as a social justice organization representing different faith traditions, cultural backgrounds, races, and economic means. The organization included twelve congregations and has now grown to thirty-two congregations and many individual members. They are united in a commitment to transform our communities.  They hope to build a Kansas City area that embraces all people and offers everyone the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential.

They are people of faith, called to break down barriers that divide us by race and class. Rather than providing services or programs, More² works to change policies through grassroots movements, in ways that promote racial and economic equity in Kansas and Missouri.  Johnny Waller, Jr. is the MORE2 community organizer for Missouri and Kansas. His job is to organize people who have been directly impacted by the criminal justice system. As you may know, people who have a felony conviction on their record face enormous challenges upon re-entering “society” and the collateral consequences of a conviction can last a lifetime. More² is dedicated to reducing the barriers that affect people who have been touched by the criminal justice system and wants to build a movement in order to end the perpetual punishment of people.
