CURE is an all-volunteer non-profit criminal justice advocacy organization.  As a prisoners’ rights organization, members of Missouri CURE are particularly concerned with conditions in Missouri prisons, where COVID 19 outbreaks are disastrous due to close quarters, regular physical contact between guards and prisoners, and the underlying chronic health conditions of many confined people.

Hedy (Edna) Harden started doing prison work in the mid-1970s. In 1990, she started Missouri CURE after a meeting in St. Louis with Charles Sullivan, head of National CURE, and a few family members of prisoners. Hedy began publishing Turning Point, MO CURE’s quarterly newsletter, in 1991.

Not only will we play a few short clips of our interviews with Hedy over the years, but her friends, Keith Brown El, Bev Livingston, Jeff Humfeld and Latarha Smith will share memories of her with our listeners.   Please be prepared to be inspired at the selfless work of Hedy Harden.  There is a need to interact with incarcerated people.  Hedy has set an example and we can all honor her memory by sharing her joy of giving.

We bring you vital information underserved or ignored by mainstream media.  We pride ourselves on digging in and sharing the issues that entertain and inform our listeners by providing a curated, unique and independent voice.

On Jaws of Justice, we examine how to find justice in our society.  Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.

Calendar for the week of July 11th:

Stay safe. Thanks to all our listeners, stay close to your dial and stay well!   A crisis on the scale of the pandemic can reorder society in dramatic ways, for better or worse.  All of society pays a heavy price for decades of failing to create a rational system of health care that works for all of us.
