The Tenth Voice (LGBTQIA)
The Tenth Voice is the Kansas City area's only weekly broadcast created by and for LGBTQIA+ people in our community in the Greater Kansas City area and around the world online. Listeners can tune in each Saturday at 1:00 PM. Each week our team of hosts and producers present interviews, information, music, news and features especially important to Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, Transgender & Nonbinary people, Queer, Intersex, Asexual & Aromantic people and Allied collective communities. Since 1989, The Tenth Voice radio show has documented and informed the LGBTQIA+ Kansas City Community.
Join us this Saturday on The Tenth Voice as we hold the fourth episode of a series on anime (animation) and manga (illustrated novels) dealing with LGBTQIA+ themes. Today we will cover transgender and intersex representation in anime, which generally is the poorest-represented segment of the community and reflected somewhat by Japanese society in general.
The discussion will be hosted by Fiona and Una : Fiona has presented in two panel sessions on Yuri and LGBTQIA+ themes in Anime, as well as assisting with engineering for anime music video (AMV) sessions at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2021 and Momocon 2022, two of the largest anime conventions in the United States. Una has also studied the subject and co-presented on the two panels on Yuri and LGBTQIA+ themes in Anime at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2021 with Fiona, and Una is herself an intersex and transgender woman.
