The Tenth Voice (LGBTQIA)
The Tenth Voice is the Kansas City area's only weekly broadcast created by and for LGBTQIA+ people in our community in the Greater Kansas City area and around the world online. Listeners can tune in each Saturday at 1:00 PM. Each week our team of hosts and producers present interviews, information, music, news and features especially important to Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, Transgender & Nonbinary people, Queer, Intersex, Asexual & Aromantic people and Allied collective communities. Since 1989, The Tenth Voice radio show has documented and informed the LGBTQIA+ Kansas City Community.
As we head into Pride month, we are going to have a special Trans Talk episode of the Tenth Voice which will feature some of the transgender news of the month, and then we will be playing a selection of past and current transgender songs, almost all of them performed by actual transgender persons. We will start with the Velvet Underground in the 1960’s and move on into 2020’s over the course of an hour. These songs represent some of the absolute best in terms of not so much the performance itself, but in how the song addresses the soul of the transgender community. Our very own DJ Nightshade, the only intersex transgender lesbian on the air will be running through the tracks and hosting the show!
