THE TIME IS ALWAYS RIPE TO DO RIGHT

Jaws of Justice Radio investigates how we can achieve justice from a system of laws deeply rooted in economic, social and political inequality.  We hope you will listen.

For our show on January 15, 2024, we will help all celebrate Martin Luther King Day as host Melvin Merritt will speak with Mr. Kevin Woolfolk, Director of Activism and Membership with SCLC-GKC.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s organization, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) was best known for mobilizing large, non-violent protests in places like Birmingham and Selma, aimed at moving the national conscience and pushing the federal government to support civil rights initiatives.  The SCLC is a non-violent, direct action, social change organization founded nationally in 1957 by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and a group of Southern ministers.

The Greater Kansas City Chapter of SCLC was formally organized in 1972, and is dedicated to the continuation of Dr. King’s dream in Metropolitan Kansas City. Since 1969, SCLC of Greater Kansas City has sponsored the annual King Holiday Celebration during January. The Celebration has grown to be one of the most extensive observances in the nation.

We ask ourselves, where have we been?  Where are we now?  Will we get to our future in a harmonious inclusive society? Let’s talk about how this is done!

SCLC-GKC has a Mass Celebration event on Monday, January 15th, 2024, 6 PM at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 2310 E. Linwood BLVD, KCMO 64109 where the featured speaker is Ajamu Webster.

On Jaws of Justice, we examine how to find justice in our society.  Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
