KC’s Poor People’s Campaign Rally, Monday, February 12
On Monday, February 12th, on the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King's march to support striking sanitation workers in Memphis, StandUp KC and the Fight for $15 rallied on the sidewalks just East of Paseo and across the street for MacDonald's to support the poor people's campaign of 2018. Organizer Michael Enriquez gives an impassioned speech, along with other members of labor, the clergy and civil rights activists. Especially noteworthy are the speeches given by the fast food workers themselves.

Ryan Jones, Historian at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN, gave the keynote address at a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The address was entitled, “Dr. King at the Mountaintop: a Drum Major for Peace”. It summarized King's life and times.

Kansas democratic party gubernatorial candidates
Last Thursday evening, December 7, the Kansas City Star moderated a Forum for five Democratic party candidates in the 2018 Kansas Governor's race. For an hour and a half, the five candidates gave one-minute responses to questions from the moderators before a live audience of 170 at the Johnson County Central Resource Library in Overland Park. Net Neutrality
On December 14, 2017, the FCC Comissoners lead by Trump appointee Ajit Pai, will be considering a previous FCC decision that the Internet is a telecommunications service essential to the public need and should be regulated using Title 2 of the 1996 Communications Act. Such a reversal would allow the Internet to function as private information system in which wealthy corporations could pay for increased speed and visibility. Individual voices and small nonprofits such as ART FM would be lost in a deep and distant cyber vortex.
