Jackson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Angie Blumel, President & CEO of Jackson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), discusses their work with Radio Active Magazine regular Pat Riehle. CASA (which means “house” or “home” in Spanish) recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children in the Jackson County Family Court system until the child is placed in a safe and permanent home. In 2021, CASA had 381 active volunteers who helped 1,170 children, averaging 1.5 hours per week per volunteer.
