Vets for Peace promotes Armistice Day 11-11-11

The guns officially fell silent on “The War to End All Wars” on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.  That day was then designated as Armistice Day

However, “The War to End All Wars” did not end war, as history tragically records. Vets for Peace are unhappy that the US Congress in 1954 repurposed November 11 from a day to honor the Armistice — a day for peace — to a day to honor veterans of all wars.  Vets for Peace want to change the name and official purpose back to honoring the Armistice — to honor making peace rather than honoring those who made war.

Sara Campbell and Jeff Humfeld describe Veterans for Peace and the activities of its Kansas City chapter. Sara is the current chapter president.  Jeff is a member as wall as an activist with the Carpenter’s union and a programmerr with KKFI.  They are interviewed by Radio Active Magazine regular Spencer Graves.
